Are Parasites always bad?

Whether you like it or not, you also have parasites inside you and most of you will have a hard time eliminating them, believe me.

I hate to be accused as a plagiarizer so I'll try to summarize everything I learned about parasites. And also in order to distinguish if they are always a disadvantage or if they can also be an advantage to us.

Parasites are micro-organism who depend on their host for support and survival. They fight everything in order to survive like our body, immune system and the environment. They can affect us Physically, Socially and Mentally.

They are all hiding, we just don't see them but they are all lurking around, benefiting from our hard-work.

We get parasites from eating cold foods, traumatic experiences, poor digestion, poor elimination of toxic waste, taking anti-acid medications, and mostly meat. You just need to ingest their eggs.

Some Parasites aren't all bad. In fact, some of them can actually be quite beneficial. Five thousand years ago, some of the Egyptian doctors believe that leeches can cure some ailments from headache to flatulence. Until today leeches are still used for the same medication especially to treat or cure blood circulation.

On the other hand parasites are not only the ones inside our body, but also these are the ones who always ask for paper, who always ask us for a treat, who always ask for our food and other things they will boldly ask to fulfill their needs. These are the ones who mostly uses the words can I have it? can I have that? may I have some? may i have it etc. Uuughhhh....Good thing if we can also do the same to them, but suddenly they will turn their backs at us.

The positive thing about being a host is that we learn to be independent, it can build self-esteem, knowing the fact that we can handle things by ourselves and they need us. For some the advantage is for socialization, you gain more friends when they can benefit from you. People are blinded by fame that they forgot to think about themselves. Well this is parasitism, one always gains advantage while one gets nothing or slowly drains everything.

Today we watch the movie Parasyte. Parasyte (Japanese: 寄生獣 Hepburn: Kiseijū?, lit. "Parasitic Beasts") is a science fiction horror manga series written and illustrated by Hitoshi Iwaaki, and published in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine from 1988 to 1995.

The story is about a boy name Izumi that has been infected by a parasite, in the movie parasites can be eliminated by killing their host. Unlike in reality, parasites are hard to extinguish. The parasite can talk and it's like it's not being a "parasite" because it protects its own host, although it's only doing it for itself but the movie shows mutualism between a human and a parasite which is ironical.

One of my favorite lines, it gives me an impact like I want to be in the movie or I want to say the same line or literally do it. Parasites in this movie have the ability to morph into any shape, they can be even a sharpest blade that can slice the strongest metal. Thumbs up. can't wait for the part two. Everything has both.

Is there a way APC can stop Smoking?

How can smoking be addictive?  Every time you’re smoking, cigarette creates and reinforces this addiction. If you stop smoking, you’ll get nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Nicotine is an addictive drug that makes you physically and psychologically dependent on it. This means you get withdrawal symptoms if you don't smoke.

But still I don’t understand how come it is addictive, because I never smoke nor drink. So I don’t know how they feel. But I know the feeling of being addicted to something. Before, I used to eat such snacks that are sweet, salty and fatty foods, but when I learned that restraining myself from eating those can be beneficial, I started training myself as early as I can how? I started it step by step, first I minimize the amount until I never consume such foods again. Although I still tend to consume some of them but as much as possible I only eat vegetables. At first, it is hard to stop the habit that you are used to, but it only takes true and much determination to manage doing it. It will take some time but if you can make it, the results can be an advantage to you.

Until now, to be honest I still want to eat foods like potato chips, French fries, chocolates etc. but I have to suffer for now because when I grow up, I can eat those without getting sick in return. Good for me I can manage my cravings to those foods by starting the routine earlier, and I feel good about it, because I save money, my body looks good somehow plus my life can be longer.

Is there a way APC can stop smoking? Answer there is a way, but it won’t be easy for the students to do it, because it became their habit and I know how it feels like. Sad to say not all people are like me that can manage such a thing, but here are my ideas:
1.      Give additional grades for those who can stop smoking. +2 to every subject per semester
2.      If APC will charge the students every time they smoke. p500 per stick.
3.      All of the students will be rewarded if they caught anyone who smokes. Either a grade, money, benefits etc. anything that can motivate them to hunt down and point out the smokers.
4.      Increase the price of the cigarettes. One box equals p2000.

I think my ideas are too crazy, but it can be a solution if executed well. I know APC tries their best to stop smoking, but the best solution is the students, because only they can help themselves.

Cheers and Chants Competition, My Great Inspiration

We never know what will be the outcome of our performance. Did we done well?

Cheers and Chants Competition was held in Multi-Purpose Hall 1(MPH1) on October 7, 2015. The competition has 5 participants AC 151, AC 152, BM 151, MA 151, and last TM 151 which is my group. Each participant has a maximum of 5 minutes to perform their cheers and chants.

Some people said that our presentation will be a great success. Whether we are good or not, we are still nervous on how will our presentation go in front of the crowd. Many of us are hoping that we will make it up to champion, while me I’m trying to be null, because I don’t know what will happen after.

The time that it’s our group’s turn, many are overwhelmed. I tried to calm them down as much as I can, like saying, “stay with us”, “we can do this”, “we will do it”.

Then as we perform we almost lost at the first part, because of the beat and everyone tries getting into their position on time, good thing KC found a way to overcome the excess beat, so that we can blend. As we go on, I did my best to perform well. Then my part comes, I tried projecting my yell as much as possible and I tried making my moves mesmerizing.

After our performance, some of my classmates told me that the people laughed at my part. I found it very flattering, knowing the fact that it might have contributed to the score.

Then it’s judging time, I didn’t expect for anything but at the same time, my heart beats very fast. I always feel like this every time there is a presentation and it’s either me about to take my turn to present in front or whatever.

Then boom we’ve won second place, some of us are disappointed because they expect that we’ll be the champion. While me mixed, a half of disappointment and a half of satisfaction. But still I’m trying to be neutral. But it doesn’t mean that I didn’t learn from it or I’ll just going to be contented with it. In fact, it inspired me to do better and practice as much as I can, knowing that my classmates will choose me for the ignite speech.

How does “Ang Tatay mong Kalbo” make sense?

Is the story literally talks about a father who has a bald hair? Answer is NO. Ang tatay mong Kalbo is a parody from a play The Bald Soprano or The Bald Prima Donna- first play written by Romanian-French playwright Eugene Ionesco. It is about a couple who invited another couple, together with the first couple’s maid and the fire chief, they are all talking about some things that does not make any sense throughout the play.

The play is entertaining and funny, but at the same time it’s also nonsense. As I watch the play I almost fell asleep but I can’t, because I need to watch the whole play for my blog and also for my assignment in world literature. But there are times that I managed to stay awake, especially when there is a part that’s about to be funny and I was like “I need to see this, maybe this one will do a shot”.  I love it, what I can say is Ms. Eliz Reyes picked a good play for this blog.

I also saw my classmate, Josh Beredo, he is the fire chief, he is really a good actor, and he is very funny during the play. Especially the part when he almost cried like a baby. I also love the character of Maria, she is the lover of the fire chief, her character is played by a male that made her character strong and humorous. She is disgusting, but she is very funny. Actually they’re all funny, the Santos couples who argues nonsensically and the other couple which is the Reyes who first converses like they’ve never met before but soon realizes that they are married. I love all of the characters, they did a wonderful job and they all deserve a big round of applause.

One of the question from my assignment in world literature, is why do you think the story is titled as “Ang Tatay mong Kalbo”? answer is, like the conversations in the story a bald head makes no sense at all. How does it make sense? The fact that it is nonsense, by watching this play, people can analyze what makes more sense or not.

Turn Left, Turn Right, should be Applauded or be Avoided?

Does “Forever” really last forever? For some yes and for some no. You can say that one of my blogs might be related to this one. In my blog “It’s Okay to Use your Heart, But Don’t Forget to Bring your Mind with you”, I emphasize the balance of using both heart and mind, or if possible, using mind more than the heart, but at this rate I’ll give my review about the movie “Turn Left, Turn Right.”

Turn Left, Turn Right is a story by Jimmy Liao that shows a conflict about love that can be illustrated using the Parallel lines in math, “even they are close, they will never meet.” But in the movie they met each other in the end. But that’s not all I can say, yes the movie is entertaining, humorous, and very romantic but on the other side it’s somehow depressing, to some people who doesn’t experience the same ending, because in reality it can also happen, so was its contrary. I’m not trying to give people who are reading this, just about to read this or just read this a sad or a bad feeling, I’m just basing my ideas on what I see, what I know and what I hear around me. As much as possible in my blogs I’m trying to be both realistic and imaginative, maybe.
I always wonder why some people always think positive, even if the situation is sometimes contrast. Yes, negativity is something that needs to be avoided, but in reality there’s both positive and negative. I know sometimes reality can sound more negative, because I’m a realistic person, but the fact that it is “reality” will never be extinguished, you can hate me for this, but soon you’ll realize that I’m right.

In conclusion, I can say it’s up to you if you want to watch it or not, but let me tell you something. Sometimes happy ending only exist in movies, don’t be attached to it, because expectations can lead to disappointments depending to the level of your hope, the more hopeful you are, the more failures can hurt you. Don’t be deceived by a stone that sometimes disguised itself to gold. Stay strong.

General Luna, our salvation or destruction in the future?

October 1, 2015 at 5pm, after school, I immediately watch the movie “Heneral Luna” so I can start my blog for Ms. Eliz’s requirement. But after watching the movie, I felt guilty for only watching it just to meet my requirement. It was a great movie, I didn’t expect to be more entertained while watching it, I realize there are a lot of things that I don’t know yet about Philippine history.

The movie shows everything about nationalism- General Luna’s love for our country, you can see it through his efforts, crave for power- how did some people do everything to bring him down, bravery- he showed how bold he is when he fought with the American soldiers, cowardice- how did some Filipino soldiers ran away during their fight, leadership- he showed how great he is ruling an army of soldiers, determination- he showed how much he can do for his country by gathering 4000 soldiers within 3 days, 2000 is only expected by some of his advisers but he succeeded getting the number above the expected amount, desperation- how did he do everything just to fulfill his plans to free the country, betrayal- how he was killed by his own fellowmen and failure- how his death lead the Filipinos to surrender themselves to the Americans. General Luna, an Ilocano born in Manila, was one of the best generals known in the Philippine History for showing his excellence in tactic defense against the Americans. Heneral Luna was portrayed by John Arcilla.

It also portrays the conflict between Filipinos and among themselves, how important is to have unity instead of rivalry. Many Filipino believe that Americans are plotting something and some believe that they were just trying to help us and form an alliance. I can’t blame both of the sides, because one of them is telling the truth. We never know what the others intention is, but one thing is for sure, everyone will not do things without a purpose.

I encourage everyone to watch this movie, it’s really good. Because of this my mind is now slowly being clarified about the history of my country, the Philippines. Personally, I think everything will be better if only General Luna has not been killed, I don’t know what the future maybe but one thing is certain, everything will change.
